Hiking is a great way to get some cardio in while also enjoying nature. It’s a low-impact activity, so it’s easy on your joints, and you can go at your own pace. Plus, there are plenty of scenic trails to explore. To get started, all you need is a good pair of hiking shoes and some water. As with any exercise routine, always consult your doctor before starting this or any other physical activity.
Start by choosing an area that seems appealing to you – maybe one with beautiful views or interesting wildlife – and head out on the trail. You’ll want to dress appropriately for the weather (so no flip flops!), and make sure you have enough food and water for your hike, plus any necessary first aid supplies if needed. Start by doing 15 minutes of light cardio (walking) then follow with 5 minutes of muscle building exercises that work the arms, legs, backside and core like squats or lunges. Finish with 5 minutes of stretching exercises like toe touches or yoga poses – but only if they’re comfortable for you since everyone has different abilities!
